Saint Thomas Research Institute

The Saint Thomas Research Institute, a community-based clinical research site in Nashville, Tenn., works effectively with sponsors, physicians and patients to improve the healthcare in the communities we serve by providing access to the latest advancements in care.

In 2000, the Saint Thomas Research Institute was established to support Saint Thomas Hospital physicians interested in conducting clinical research. In 2007, the Research Institute became a separate entity under Saint Thomas Health, a network comprised of five community hospitals located in Middle Tennessee: Baptist Hospital, Saint Thomas Hospital, Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Hickman Community Hospital, and The Center for Spinal Surgery.

Each day, the Saint Thomas Research Institute conducts cutting-edge clinical research trials to further the mission of Saint Thomas Health by improving current healthcare standards and providing patients with the most advanced treatments and technologies available.

Unlike many academic research settings, the Research Institute is part of a community-based hospital system, focused on integrating clinical research with standard patient care in the most cost-effective way possible. The Research Institute provides the infrastructure and support for research endeavors, managing and overseeing the entire clinical trial process from protocol review to study close and allowing for better patient-physician interaction and improved healthcare outcomes.
